It’s time for another rousing rendition of TL; DR with Jenna at Call Her Happy. Plus, because I’m an overachiever, I’m going to throw in What I Wore Sunday, too! Prepare yourselves.
- School is going really well — or at least as well as can be expected for three weeks in. I’m enjoying my classes and the routine of getting out of the house every day. So that’s all lovely and good.
- I was nominated for a Sheenazing Award and although I didn’t win, I’m still pretty excited about it.
- One of my “self care” strategies for this new graduate school adventure is to use my commute time only for personal reading. I don’t check my email, attempt to catch up on class reading or futz around. I just sit there and listen to music and read. It’s been great and, as a result, I’ve been plowing through a book or so a week.
- Bret got me Rosetta Stone for Polish for my birthday! I’m pretty excited to pick up a fourth language.
- Tomorrow is our first blogiversary! Expect some shenanigans.
And here’s what I wore Sunday:
It was pretty spectacularly gross yesterday, so I wore the coziest sweater dress I own. I’m also not so sure why my side/back looks so lumpy, but evidently I wasn’t concerned enough to make Bret take another one.
Here’s a bonus shot with my Budapest scarf:
TL; DR is hosted by Jenna at Call Her Happy.
What I Wore Sunday is a newly revamped linkup hosted by the newly revamped Fine Linen and Purple.

This post is packed! I love it 🙂 First of all, getting out of the house on the regular is so good for my soul as well. I feel that! And, I want to know what you’ve been reading. Write a post!? And, 4th language? Get it.
Happy Blogiversary!

I really should write a post about what I’ve been reading lately. My mother and I have a pretty strong book exchange going — and then I send everything on to my mother-in-law. Right now, I’m reading a biography/literary analysis of John Updike, which is a little heavier than most of what I’ve read lately. (My mother’s been on an Icelandic author streak, so lots of murder mysteries lately.)

Are there that many mysterious murders in Iceland?

Apparently, 6 months a year of absolute darkness makes people kill people.
Lindsay said:
That makes sense. Three days in a row makes me grumpy, times a bunch, equals murder, I guess.

Ahahahaha!

Here in Austin, it was 60 degrees when I left for church yesterday evening. Today it is in the 40s. I say do what you have to to stay warm.
Reading during a commute is the best! I have been listening to podcasts (well, just the one), and it is light-years better than the radio.

What podcast do you listen to? YNAB?
…Yesterday, I actually overbundled and was too hot. Ugh.

I should probably be listening to the YNAB podcast, shouldn’t I? I am currently listening my way through Fr. Mike Schmitz’s homilies. I decided to start from the beginning. School is back in session now, so there are new episodes, but I’m too busy being edified by the old ones and giggling at years-old pop culture references.
When I get through those, I will probably have that one, YNAB, Getting Things Done, and a bunch from Grammar Girl & Co. I get emails/feeds from all of those currently, but reading while driving seems dangerous.
Think of all the souls in purgatory released by your discomfort. That’s what I do. Well, I grumble and then pray. Prayer works outside of time. Two birds, one stone.
