It’s been a pretty busy week around these parts. Here’s what I’m up to:

My good buddy Alison from Aquinas gave me a picture of Blessed Mother Theresa to wish me well in school/career endeavors. (Someone had given it to her and she didn’t know what to do with it.) Since I’m big on found religious objects, I hung it up next to our big Crucifix.

Fun fact: Bret's grandfather made that, I think.

Thoughts? Feelings? Should I have put it in the bedroom instead?

Winter is coming.

So it’s time to clean the humidifiers and get them pumping all of their humidity into my house. Here’s the Perplexed Penguin getting his vinegar scrub:

Another fun fact: I can tell when it's time to bust out the humidifiers based on the amount of static in The Bunny's fur.

Yesterday, I went to the happiest place on earth — Meijer.

Every time I go to Meijer, I wonder why we don’t just pack up and head home to the Mitten.

While I was there, I was confronted with the largest display of Leelanau Cellars wines that I have ever seen. Don’t worry, though. I prayed about it and only bought three bottles.

This is shaping up to be a really stellar weekend, right?

I finished The Periodic Table last week and then picked up a new book at my friend’s yard sale.

It’s a really, ridiculously long book (as evidenced by the 8-part epic mini-series sticker on the front) but so far I’m really digging it.

Have you read it? What did you think?

I know you’re all sitting around wondering what our flag football team is up to. I don’t blame you! We’ve had three games so far and they’ve really helped us expose the chink in our team’s armor. For example, we’ve only scored one touchdown all season. And our defense has let other teams to score 15 touchdowns.

We’re really living up to our idols here.

…you know, just some little things to work on.

Bret’s been cooking a lot lately. Check out what he made for dinner on Wednesday:

Pan fried trout with lemon and capers, stuffed tomatoes.

Halloween is sort of around the corner and I have no idea what to dress up as. (Don’t judge me, I still go to Halloween parties!) The past two years, I’ve gone as a dinosaur using an excellent costume that I made out of a sweatsuit.

I can’t decide if I want to be a dinosaur again or if I should make another costume. Here are some choices:

  • A chef. (This would not require me to do anything, because I have a chef’s coat from my job in college.)
  • A penguin. (This would be another sweatshirt creation.)
  • A sad Michigan football fan. (I would go as myself with smudged mascara.)
  • A pumpkin. (This would also be a sweatshirt.)
  • Something else entirely.

Help me out! Should I go with the penguin idea? I should, shouldn’t I?
