Golfing is my new favorite pastime (sosorrysowhite). To be fair, I probably only like it so much because it gives me the opportunity to be outside. Plus, I’m still terrible enough at it that I can get better and better every time I play.

I'm chipping. My lovely husband is raking for me because apparently I don't rake well enough for his liking.

Either way, tomorrow Bret and I are headed over to the parks district offices to pick up our players cards for the golf season. It means that we’ll be able to golf for way cheaper from now through next June — to the driving range we go!

I’ve been super, super into iced tea lately. I don’t even know why. Every morning, I make myself a pitcher of iced tea that looks like this:

This is a half-empty pitcher of iced tea. I was going to take a picture of my chopstick/10 bag set up, but got lazy. Imagine that pitcher with 10 tea bags and you'll get where I'm at.

The real question here is will 10 teabags a day on top of my morning pot of coffee finally kill me?

We’re having a dinner party tomorrow night! Complete with fancy wine, a standing rib roast and bacon wrapped water chestnuts. Jealous?

Where do I find little hats for my roast beast?

So softball’s going well. I managed to do something funny to my leg yesterday — but I’m confident that Motrin, diligent hydration and icing will have me back out on the field in no time.

Also, we got way outclassed last night. The umpire (who was hysterical) mercied us out of the game in the fifth inning.

If you don’t mind me tooting my own horn for a little bit, I must say that I am killing it at this whole “Stay-at-home Wife” thing. I’ve made waffles for breakfast before work, I’ve folded and put away all of the laundry (That’s new for Bret, guys. In the past I’ve left all of his clothes on the bed.) and I’ve even made time to dust.

This isn’t accurate, but it’s funny.

Perhaps he shouldn’t get used to it.

Going back to my softball career, let’s talk about last night’s umpire. If you know anyone who are diehard Irish southside residents, you’ve probably met someone just like this guy. His name is Kirk and I hope that he’s the umpire forever and ever (Amen).

Here’s how we met (I’m the catcher):

Umpire: So, how much experience do you have playing softball?

Me: None.

Umpire: Okay. Okay. Tell you what. You just stand where I tell you and keep your face away from the bat.

Finally, we have a charity fundraiser/gala to go to tonight! When I was headed to my game last night, I called Bret and he asked me what was going on today. I reminded him that we were having people over for a dinner party, which almost sent him into the vapors. You see, his boss threw tickets at him for a fancy charity event and he told him that we would be there.

A representation of my fancy party face.

Which we will, because, you know work stuff.

I called the dinner party guests — they all understood. I called my mother and she told me what to do and today I’ll focus on getting gussied up and looking like a lawyer’s wife. Which leads me to my next conundrum:

Internet friends! What do I need to know about surviving a big fancy fundraiser?!
